Morphological description

Two-row ear (variety nutans), cylinder shaped, average length 6.5 cm. The grain is coarse, prolonged, yellow, an average of 22 grains in an ear. The average stem length is 63.5 cm.

Economic characteristics:

Intensive type variety. The variety is medium late, the vegetation period lasts 88 - 102 days, lodging resistant, tillering coefficient 2.0-2.6. Potential grain crop is up to 7.5 t ha-1.

Quality:

1,000 grain weight 47-53 g, high density 650-730 g L-1). Total protein content 10.3-11.5 %, high extractability – 79-85%. 

Susceptibility to diseases:

The variety is resistant to loose smut and mildew, medium resistance against leaf spots.

Use:

The grain can be used for malt, food and animal feed.

Cultivation:

Growing is recommended on well cultivated soils, prompt weed control must be provided. Optimum sowing rate 400 germinating seeds per m2. The optimum dose of nitrogen fertiliser in pure substance for the production of beer grade barley 60-90 kg ha-1, for other uses 120 kg ha-1 with mandatory use of fungicides.
